Post: 2 x Business Administration Apprentices
Band/Salary: Apprenticeship Rates
Hours: Full time 37 ½ hours – Monday to Friday, Fixed Term 15 Months
Base: Sceptre Point, Walton Summit/Minerva Health Centre, Preston
Would you like to start an exciting career in Business Administration in the NHS? Do you want to learn new skills and knowledge in the workplace whilst achieving a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification?
If the answer is YES then we would like to hear from you.
An opportunity has arisen for 2 apprentices to join our forward thinking and friendly Human Resources Directorate.
We are looking for 2 enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals, who are interested in an Administrative Assistant Apprenticeship role within our Quality Academy Team.
The roles will involve providing administrative support to the Quality Academy Team within the directorate whilst undertaking a Business Administration Apprenticeship at Level 2. Business Administration Apprentices are employed on a fixed term Apprentice Agreement with the Trust for 15 months.
During your employment you will be given the opportunity to gain knowledge and learn a wide range of Administration skills. These experiences and skills will support you in applications for further substantive posts within Lancashire Care, within the wider NHS and within other organisations.
One post will be based at Trust Headquarters, Sceptre Point, Walton Summit and one post will be based at The Minerva Centre, Preston; with some rotation across both sites.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Successful applicants will be working towards a set of core competencies so that they have the right basic skills, attitudes and behaviours for a business administration role. This will include general office duties such as filing, copying, using the telephone, customer care and using computer systems to view, input and update records.
Qualification and Skills Required
Applicants should be educated to GCSE in Maths and English Language or equivalent although this is not essential. Applicants should also possess a general understanding of Microsoft Office programmes and be able to use these to produce basic letters, documents and spreadsheets. Experience of working in an office environment through employment or work experience would be an advantage.
You will need to be hard working and an excellent team worker. Good communication is essential. You must also be able to recognise and work within your own limitations, be honest, punctual, reliable, and friendly and have a professional attitude to work.
The Business Administration Apprenticeship is ideal for anyone wishing to contribute indirectly to patient care through office, reception or other administrative working.
Although you will be fully supported throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship we are looking for individuals with high levels of motivation and a commitment to contribute in the workplace. You will need good organisational skills and must enjoy working as a member of a team.
You will complete a 15 month training programme as part of your apprenticeship which will include undertaking Level 2 Business Administration and Functional Skills (as required). The Apprenticeship will be undertaken in collaboration with an approved training provider. There will be classroom sessions and work based assessment which contributes to the learning element of the programme. You must also complete a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your learning and skills in practice in accordance with the apprenticeship framework.
These vacancies are advertised on a fixed term contract basis due to this being an apprenticeship, the objective of which is to gain a recognised qualification and experience in the workplace. This does not include a guaranteed permanent post with the Trust however, on successful completion of the course; you will be eligible to apply for vacancies within the Trust, subject to the Trust’s usual recruitment processes. The apprenticeship will provide valuable work experience and a qualification that is recognised by employers.
Please provide information in support of your application relating to your skills, experience and knowledge. You should relate these to the essential and desirable requirements of the post. Therefore you should look at the person specification and tell us how you think you meet the criteria providing examples as necessary. The information you provide can include details of work experience, courses, hobbies or voluntary work.
Interviews will be held on Wednesday 7 March 2018.
Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
